As part of MAS Context's 2018 Fall Talk series, a screening of the film Harry Seidler: Modernist will be hosted this Friday in the offices of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) in Chicago. The film will be introduced by Vladimir Belogolovsky, founder of the New York-based Intercontinental Curatorial Project and curator of the traveling exhibition “Harry Seidler: Painting Toward Architecture”.
The 58-minute film is the first documentary retrospective of Seidler’s practice and his international influence on modernist architecture. His career spanned over nearly sixty years working in New York, Paris, China, Mexico, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Vienna. Seidler is known especially for typifying the practice of mid-century modernism in Australia.
The documentary includes interviews with individuals such as Dr. Johannes Swoboda, Lord Norman Foster, Lord Richard Rogers, Dr. Elizabeth Farrelly, and Penelope Seidler. The screening is free, however donations to support the public program are welcome. If you are in Chicago this weekend be sure to check out the film and RSVP here.
