Results of the AIA Philadelphia Napkin Sketch Competition

Mixed Media Winner: Jinseok Jang, China

Three category winners and several finalists have been announced at the 2012 SKETCH SHOWDOWN, AIA Philadelphia's annual napkin sketch competition. The organizers received 105 entries from China, New Zealand, and the United States with authors ranging from high school students to architects with over 20+ years of experience in the profession. The entries are now on view in Philadelphia through September 15 at the AIA Bookstore at Washington Square (7th & Sansom Streets).

Student Winner (Defined by high school or younger): Robretta Simmons, Student at Charter High School for Art and Design (CHAD), USA
White Cocktail Napkin Winner: Alan Kawahara, Student at Syracuse University, USA

The 2012 SKETCH SHOWDOWN jury included Patrycja Doniewski, Partner, Qb3; Jeffro Kilpatrick, Co-Founder, Philadelphia Cartoonist Society; Christopher Kircher, Principal, Fishtank PHL LLC; Jeff Pastva, Founder, The Designated Sketcher; and Ricardo Zapata, Local Artist.

All winners will receive a $25 gift certificate to the AIA Bookstore, will be listed in an online gallery on The Designated Sketcher, and all sketches will be on the official AIA Associates Committee/Young Architects Forum postcards. All top finalists will also be featured on The Designated Sketcher.

Following are the finalist entries in their respective categories.
