SHoP Architects was crowned the grand prize winner of the 11th annual Jeff Harnar Award for Contemporary Architecture for their redesign of SITE Santa Fe. Managed by the University of New Mexico’s School of Architecture + Planning, the $10,000 award distinguishes innovative contemporary architecture and was created in honor of the late New Mexico architect Jeff Harnar. Two winners were also announced for the inaugural Unbuilt Architecture Award and the Unbuilt Landscape Architecture Award. Check them out below.
Jeff Harnar Award for Contemporary Architecture winner: SITE Santa Fe by SHoP Architects
Working closely with the SITE Santa Fe administrative team, SHoP Architects redesigned the noted art venue's exhibition spaces, as well as the administrative and educational facilities to create a vibrant new building.
Winner of Jeff Harnar Award for Unbuilt Architecture: "Vertical Cemetery for Extinct Species” by Darby Prendergast, University of New Mexico Master of Architecture student
University of New Mexico Master of Architecture student Darby Prendergast completed this project in a design studio taught by Principal Lecturer Karen King.
Winner of Jeff Harnar Award for Unbuilt Landscape Architecture: “Murchison Rogers Park” by Surroundings Studio
Surroundings Studio designed the Murchison Rogers Park for a site in El Paso, Texas. The principal in charge of the project is Kenneth Francis, who worked with Will Iadevaia and Carly Piccarello on the design.
