As the city of Montreal weighs the future of Roger Taillibert’s iconic 1976 Olympic Stadium design, the group responsible for the custodianship of Olympic Park has announced a new international idea competition to repurpose and reuse surviving components of the existing roof’s demolition after the project commences this summer.
The competition is open to the international community and will eventually be put up for a public vote in Quebec. Eight proposals will be selected by a jury panel of experts, who will assess each based on a criterion that considers their ability to address climate change and increase resilience and local living standards, among other outcomes. The roof's outer membranes, support cables, connector fittings, and other components are all eligible for reuse.
A maximum of four winners will be selected for each separate Professional and Student designation. Professional winners receive a $15,000 CAD ($10,900 USD) prize, while their student counterparts will be compensated a total of $5,000 CAD ($3,600 USD). The deadline to register entries is May 31, and the submission deadline is June 11th. Winners will be announced later this summer.

This is super exciting to me, both because of and despite having done it already! People for Urban Progress RCA Dome Salvage. We're down to less than one acre of material now. But I have some new ideas....
