Announcing the winners of “Good Walls Make Good Neighbors, Mr. Trump”!

Best Overall Image: FIREWALL - You're Fired...Just Kidding, You're Stuck Here Forever! by Zachary Wilson

Architects around the world got to show some Internet meme-worthy snark in Reality Cues' latest installment, the “Good Walls Make Good Neighbors, Mr. Trump” ideas competition. Based on Donald Trump's xenophobic plans to turn the historically controversial U.S./Mexico border wall into a reality, the competition invited architects to do one thing: Design a wall that separates Mr. Trump from the rest of the U.S.  Today, the champions of the Trump charrette were announced!

The notable jury awarded Best Overall Image to “FIREWALL - You're Fired...Just Kidding, You're Stuck Here Forever!” by Zachary Wilson. Four runners-up and nine honorable mentions were selected.

Get a glimpse of the top winning entries below.

Project summary: “Some of the toughest walls to surmount are the mental barriers within our minds. This will be the world Donald Trump sees. FIREWALL is an experiment of the reverse surveillance state. Normally, one entity is surveying the world around it, but this time its the world observing a single individual! The architecture firewall seeks to subvert our normal expectations and perceptions about walls in our everyday life by eliminating the need for a physical barrier in place of a inconspicuous virtual block. The aim of this new system is to create a new dialog with "The Donald" where individuals can speak and see him, but in the eyes of Trump the people around him are nothing but hazy, pixelated apparitions bearing the face of the person that haunts his thoughts the most. Since monitoring Trump would be an insurmountable task for any living individual a task force of drones will be deployed to manage the system, learn Trumps behaviors and movements, feedback the data to optimize, and continuously maintain the firewall by relaying the images into Trump himself. While drones observe the outside, their hive will be Trump Tower. The tower will play host to the virtual wall projecting itself wherever Trump leaves and will be a solitary prison of isolation on the inside. First, there was the Big Brother House, then The Truman Show, and tomorrow will be The Trump FIREWALL.”

Runners-up

First Runner Up: Taco Truck Block Party by Rajiv Fernandez
Second Runner Up: The Future is Bleak by Rob Anderson
Third Runner Up: 2001 A Trump Odyssey by Sara Castillo
Fourth Runner Up: Decorated Shed by Emily Johnson
