The City of Santa Fe and Enterprise Green Communities are sponsoring GreenWORKS, an open design competition in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The objective of the competition is to design a multi-unit, residential housing compound on a quarter acre city-owned vacant lot in downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico, that will provide a designated number of affordably-priced homes.
GreenWORKS challenges designers to
- provide a site design that allows as many as six homes;
- determine a realistic development budget that addresses the required affordability program as well as the costs of using cost-effective, sustainable design and building methods;
- comply with a ‘green’ building checklist that incorporates Enterprise Green Communities Criteria and the City of Santa Fe’s proposed Green Building Code;
- create a replicable development model to shape future land use policy in Santa Fe regarding infill projects and green-built projects;
- integrate the historic character of the neighborhood in the design; and
- incorporate community input into the design process.
