The 2nd DREAM BIG ART AWARDS: The Seaside Village Beach Space Planning Idea Contest

Background 

▪ Yangyang became an area with even more expectations for the future as it became a settlement for local surfers, and the surfing culture has expanded over the last ten years. In addition, the opening of the Yangyang Expressway in June 2017 increased the accessibility to the city, and the number of tourists increased significantly. 

▪ As surfing became a local culture in the area, an exotic atmosphere has been created along the beach. The local content in the area that can be enjoyed only on Yangyang's beach became a cultural icon symbolizing Yangyang. The local content started in a specific area and has gradually expanded to surrounding areas. It is combined with various resources in the region, accelerating the influx of the floating population.  

▪ Accordingly, we plan to develop new and creative local content by utilizing the undeveloped spaces of Yangyang to satisfy the increasingly diverse needs of various users. 

Purpose of the Competition 

▪ This contest aims to discover space planning ideas that can diversify and revitalize Yangyang’s special local content in a trendy and sensual space with a poolside and no distinction between season and off-season.
