The Boston Chapter of the Emerging Green Builders is thrilled to roll out our 2008 Design Competition! This competition is directed to the notion that a sustainable future must incorporate the rejuvenation of our existing buildings. The challenge exists in identifying how the modern classics within our cities can prove to have the greatest potential. As we believe the City of Boston is poised to lead the way, the EGB has selected The Lindemann Building to model this important effort. Registration is now open to entrants at the Boston EGB website: http://bostonegb.ning.com/.
The USGBC Natural Talent 2008 Design Competition provides an applied learning experience in the principles of integrated design, sustainability, innovation, and social consciousness, all of which are components of the LEED Green Building Rating System. Participants will compete in a local competition, and the top winner will move on to compete for a national award at GREENBUILD 2008. USGBC awards include Green Building Scholarships, as well as travel and registration to GREENBUILD the USGBC’s Annual Green Building Conference and Expo, where finalists’ entries will be displayed and final judging will take place. GREENBUILD will be held here in Boston, MA, November 2008. The local competition is directed to the notion that a sustainable future must include the rejuvenation of our existing buildings, and that there is great potential in the modern classics of our city, and other cities throughout our nation. Entries are due July 19th. Local winners will receive $1000 for 1st place as well as travel, lodging and registration to GREENBUILD 2008 for 1 team member; $500 for second and $250 for 3rd place. National winning teams will receive $5,000 for 1st and $2,000 for 2nd! For additional information and questions visit the FAQ page at http://www.usgbc.org/egb. Contact the EGB design competition committee at [email protected] with any questions not answered on the EGB website site.
