Jointly awarded by the Architects' Journal and The Architectural Review, the Woman Architect of the Year award recognizes a female architect for their excellence in design with an emphasis on recently built projects. This year, Biba Dow, Stephanie Macdonald, Sandra Barclay and Ángela García de Paredes have been chosen as the four finalists in running for the Woman Architect of the Year 2018 award.

Garden Museum by Dow Jones Architects.

Working within the UK, Biba Dow of Dow Jones Architects has been shortlisted for her work on the Garden Museum in London while Stephanie Macdonald, of 6a Architects, is recognized for her design of Cowan Court at the University of Cambridge.

Paracas Museum by Barclay & Crousse.

Peruvian architect Sandra Barclay, co-founder of Barclay & Crousse, makes the shortlist for her Paracas Museum project, which replaced the original building destroyed in a 2007 earthquake. Ángela García de Paredes, of Spanish firm Paredes Pedrosa Arquitectos, has been honored for her Twin Houses in Oropesa.

In the running this year are Ilze Wolff of South African practice Wolff Architects, Gloria Cabral of Paraguayan Gabinete de Arquitectura, Anna Puigjnaner and Maria Charneco of Spanish practice MAIO, and Sook-hee Chun of Korean WISE Architecture.
