Tamayouz holds jury and public talk at Bibliotheca Alexandrina

Tamayouz Excellence Award has partnered with the Society of Egyptian Architects and the Knowledge Hub Universities to host the jury meeting of the Women in Architecture and Construction Award 2019 (Aug 28-Aug 29) in Alexandria, Egypt. The private jury meeting will be followed by a public panel discussion involving the jury members at Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

This year's judges for Tamayouz’s Women in Architecture and Construction Award are Palestinian architect, community leader and author Suad Amiry; Palestinian architect and academic Nadia Habash; Egyptian architect and academic Ebtissam Moustapha; Iraqi architect and academic Dr Jala Makhzoumi; and Iraqi architect, academic and Tamayouz's founding director Ahmed Al-Mallak.

The jury meeting will be held on 28 August, 2019, and the public panel, which consists of individual presentations by each jury member as well as a group discussion, will be held on 29 August, 2019. The public panel will also present the jury's selection for the award.

The individual presentations will introduce the audience to the career highlights of each jury member, as well as their various successes. The panel discussion will address challenges they’ve faced throughout their professional life, their strategies to overcoming them, and topics related to working as women in the field of architecture in the Middle East and North Africa.

Split between a Rising Star and Woman of Outstanding Achievement, the award is open to women from the Near East and North Africa (NENA) who are either employed in the NENA region and specialize in architecture and construction, or who are employed or living abroad but their contribution has had a direct impact on the built environment in the NENA region. 

Submissions for this award closed on 1 August, 2019; however, submissions for the 2020 cycle will reopen in early 2020.
