This week's picks for London architecture and design events

We might have started this week with a cold, snowy outlook, but nothing more acts as a marker of spring in London than The Boat Race. As Oxford and Cambridge gear themselves to row down the Thames, why not look into what the other universities are doing by visiting the Bartlett or the RCA when they open their doors this week.

RCA Easter Fair | 22 March

Visit the Royal College of Art's Easter Fair to snap up some very affordable art and designs from the next generation of creatives. With prices between £1 and £600 and all profits going directly to the students, the award winning Dyson Building will be stuffed full of tempting bespoke goods.

Bartlett School of Architecture: Open Crits 2018 | 20 March

This chance to sit in on the presentations from final year students in the Bartlett's Architecture BSc and Architecture MArch programmes is not to be missed! Each year, the public are encouraged to contribute questions and comments to the students after their presentations. This 'open door policy' from the school is a rare glimpse into the inner workings and processes.

Don’t Move, Improve! Winners present…Sun Rain Rooms | 23 March

The winning design in this year's Don't Move Improve! competition will be discussed at this lunchtime talk. The project is both a home and a working studio, and tackles the unique struggles of building alongside a Grade II listed building. Hear all about it from the client, inhabitant, and architect, Anna Liu.

London and Sydney: polycentric cities | 22 March

The Sydney Plan states that the accessibility of inhabitants should allow them to make the most of a "30-minute city". In this seminar, speakers from Sydney will join those in London via a live video feed.

Architecture of Power | 24 March

This walk will explore historic Westminster, which is home to both Britain's monarchy and democracy. Royal houses and international headquarters alike will be covered on this tour of architectural 'hidden gems'.
