2020 Modernism in America Awards

Now in its seventh year, the Awards celebrate the documentation,
preservation and reuse of modern buildings, structures and landscapes
built in the United States or on U.S. territory. The Awards recognize
building owners, design teams, advocacy groups and preservation
organizations that have made significant efforts to retain, restore and
advocate for the aesthetic and cultural value of such places.

The New AIA|LA Design Awards
Registration Deadline: Friday, Jun 12, 2020
Submission Deadline: Friday, Aug 7, 2020
Now, more than ever, people and planet require design that fosters a more livable world. The New AIA|LA Design Awards look to the future through changes to previous years’ categories in order to recognize the importance of design excellence that addresses planetary challenges. These changes celebrate work that nurtures quality of life; halts or reverses climate change; and are designed in respect for the natural world. Because, if there is a singular lesson from 2020, it is that ultimately nature is more powerful than human.

2020 Burnham Prize: Burnham 20/20

For the 2020 Burnham Prize, the Chicago Architectural Club is calling for new visions that address the humanization of our city. Looking at Chicago’s future and reflecting on today’s challenges, formulate your interpretation of the Burnham Plan that expresses the needs of our time. Through a project, series of projects or a larger plan, define one or more elements that address current urban issues and that are able to contribute to the design of a more “human” city.

2020 Taipei International Design Award (TIDA)
Register/Submit Deadline: Wednesday, Jul 15, 2020
Over the years, Taipei City Government has been devoted to shaping Taipei into a city with design visions and has been continuously conveying to those with a passion for design and creativeness the urban branding of “Design Taipei; Dream Taipei.” Taipei City Government extends its invitation to designers from all over the world to join in and vie for the highest honor.
Innovative Design in Engineering and Architecture with Structural Steel (IDEAS²) Awards

Sponsored by the American Institute of Steel Construction, the Innovative Design in Engineering and Architecture with Structural Steel (IDEAS²) Award program recognizes projects that illustrate the exciting possibilities of building with structural steel.

Abdullatif Al Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture
Register/Submit Deadline: Wednesday, Mar 31, 2021
The Abdullatif Al Fozan Award is now accepting nominations for its fourth cycle. The UIA endorsed the third, and today the fourth edition of the Award. Nominated candidatures for this cycle may come from any country in the world, but should address not only the religious, but also the social function of the mosque as an urban hub. The triennial award, founded by Shaikh Abdullatif Al Fozan in 2011, recognises excellence in mosque architecture and the merger of tradition and innovation represented by the contemporary mosque.
