Reinventing Housing in the South: Competition for Public Housing Design of Jiangong Community in Shenzhen Nanshan

"The original purpose of this competition is 'to equip public housing with the power to influence the society.' As a pilot project in Shenzhen to explore a new model for public housing, the competition will try to break the constraint of the traditional commercial housing development model on architectural design. The competition will give full play to the public and social characteristics of the project, because it is a public development as well as the affordable housing. It is hoped that through this competition, a public housing design scheme which is open, comfortable for living, with humanity and has Shenzhen's city imprint will be selected for this project. The project will be built into a precedent for high-density residences and public communities in the southern China."

Genius Loci Festival Competition Open Call 2023: "BAUHAUS GOES AI"

Registration/Submission Deadline: Sunday, July 9, 2023

"Genius Loci Weimar is looking for innovative ideas for the Facade Projection Festival on 15th to 17th September 2023. Applicants have until the [9th of July] 23:59 to submit a 30-second video clip outlining the central design concept for the projection at this year's location, the Bauhaus Museum. The competition will not only address video mapping performance art, but also the emerging theme of AI-based art. The three winning artists will receive a total of €15,000 for the realization of a 5-10 minute high resolution audiovisual production, which will be presented during the festival as a video mapping of the facade of the Bauhaus Museum. The on-site winner will receive an additional €5,000."

Taipei Design Award 2023

Registration/Submission Deadline: Thursday, August 17, 2023

"Designers from all over the world are welcome to show their unlimited design and creativity strength through the Taipei Design Awards. In addition to the three categories of 'Industrial Design,' 'Visual Communication Design' and 'Public Space Design,' this year's awards also set up special cross-category awards, such as the 'Social Innovation Award' and 'Circular Design Award' to encourage epigram works of creative design, reflecting the role and responsibility of designers in urban development, and solving the urban problems facing society and its people, thus creating a sustainable cycle and innovative humanistic thinking. This year, the Taipei City Government will continue to invite a panel of professional judges from home and abroad to select outstanding design works through a rigorous evaluation system and further explore the business potential of new design forces."
