The AIA San Francisco chapter’s Design Awards program just announced a slate of 19 winning projects for 2025. Six Honor winners and seven Merit honorees were joined by others who received Citations or Commendation Awards in either the Architecture or Interior Architecture category.

Adding to the winning project designers were the Emerging Professional Award honors for Julia Weatherspoon, AIA; Kevin Riley, AIA; and Madhubala Ayyamperumal, Assoc. AIA. The Stay Over Project Team from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco collectively took home the Student Award. Leadership Award honorees included Adrianne Steichen (Marsha Maytum Citizen Architect Award), Mike Martin (Sandra I. Vivanco Education Award), and Zack | DeVito Architecture (Firm Achievement Award).

"These awards not only celebrate exceptional design, but also highlight the creativity and dedication driving our profession," Stacy Williams, the Executive Director of AIA San Francisco chapter, said of the cohort. "We are proud to recognize the people, firms, projects that are shaping a more vibrant and thoughtful built environment—one that reflects the needs, values, and aspirations of our communities."

The 2025 Design Awards jury included Catherine Baker, FAIA, of Nowhere Collaborative; Frederick Fisher, AIA, of Frederick Fisher and Partners; Jeremy Knoll, AIA, of BNIM; Vikram Sami, AIA, of Olson Kundig; and Andrew Wells, FAIA, of Dake Wells Architecture.
