Pavilosta Poet Huts Architecture Compeititon

The small port village of Pāvilosta has been home to trade ships and fishing boats for centuries. Now its pristine conditions and amber-strewn beach are becoming increasingly popular with tourists looking to relax and be inspired by the natural surrounding and crisp sea air.

The Pāvilosta Poet Huts competition is tasking architecture enthusiasts with designing a poets-in-residence, creating a retreat for creative individuals to live in and be inspired by their surroundings.

With winning designs being put forward for consideration for construction, the Poet Huts, while modest and practical, would provide free accommodation to visiting poets, as well as accommodation for the host family, and communal spaces for artists and visitors to gather and exhibit their work.

The Pavilosta Poet Huts competition is open until April16, 2019, with winners of the US $6,000 prize to be announced on June 25, 2019.
