Reanimate the Ruins winners reimagine Detroit's Packard Motor Plant

By Bustler Editors|

Tuesday, Nov 25, 2014

1ST PLACE: "Cross the Plant" by Nadau Lavergne Architectures: Vincent Lavergne, Louis Lançon, Gabrielle Baujet, Pierre-Emmanuel Limondin

The Reanimate the Ruins! competition calls attention to the grim industrial and economic realities of Detroit, Michigan in recent years, including filing the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history.

Participants worldwide were challenged to propose ideas for a new adaptive urban center on the site of the iconic Packard Motor Plant. Proposals had to retain original elements of the decommissioned Packard while incorporating new mixed-use elements for future development. A new transportation hub was also required, as a response to Detroit's sprawled layout.

Three top-prize winners were selected along with six honorable mentions.

See who they are below.
