[CANCELED] In Search of Contoured Playground | Open now through Feb 2 | Long Island City, NY
Noguchi first created the design for his Contoured Playground in 1941, utilizing “earth modulations” to construct a compact landscape in which children could play. However, the project was never built. For this exhibition, developed in collaboration with architect Naomi Frangos, Visiting Associate Professor, Cornell University, the Noguchi Museum will treat Contoured Playground as a piece of theoretical architecture.
Sharjah Architectural Triennial | Open now through Feb 8, 2020 | Sharjah, AE
Sharjah Architecture Triennial is the first major platform for architecture and urbanism in the Middle East, North and East Africa, and South and Southeast Asia. The inaugural theme is “Rights of Future Generations”, which aims to fundamentally challenge the way we think about designing societies and environments, with important implications for architecture, urban design, and planning. The exploration of this concept both within the context of the Arabic-speaking world and the Global South is at the heart of the inaugural Sharjah Architecture Triennial.
Resident Alien: Austrian Architects in America | Open now through Feb 17, 2020 | New York, NY
Resident Alien is shining a light on the distinct cultural contributions that iconic Austrian-American architects like Adolf Loos, Richard Neutra, Ella Briggs, and Rudolph Schindler have made over the last century in the United States and how their legacy continues in the current generation. Curated by Stephen Phillips and Axel Schmitzberger, Resident Alien: Austrian Architects in America features numerous practitioners whose expertise not only changed the profession but in some cases, the American zeitgeist.
[TEMPORARILY CLOSED] Frank Lloyd Wright Textiles: The Taliesin Line, 1955-60 | Open now through Apr 5, 2020 | New York, NY
When Frank Lloyd Wright launched a line of affordable home products for the masses in 1955, the designs for the fabrics and wallpapers (which were based on Wright's architectural vocabulary and inspired by specific buildings) were featured in a sample book called Schumacher’s Taliesin Line of Decorative Fabrics and Wallpapers Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright (1955). This installation at The Met will present the book and nine examples of the fabric it introduced, all from the original line produced by F. Schumacher and Co.

Madrid Design Festival is an international event that wants to convert Madrid into the capital of design and elevate the city to a privileged position on the international arena. The festival is held in February and will encompass all design disciplines, from architecture to graphic design, communications to interior design, all of them hybridizing into a contemporary and innovative format.
Stockholm Design Week 2020 | Feb 3-9 | Stockholm, SE
Together with Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, Stockholm Design Week has established itself as the most important week of the year for Scandinavian Design since its launch in 2002. The event is a meeting point for buyers, architects, designers, press and influencers from all over the World. The 2019 edition included more than 400 events.
2°C Symposium 2020 | Feb 7 | Los Angeles, CA
Organized by the American Institute of Architects’ Committee on the Environment Los Angeles (COTE LA) the third 2°C Symposium on Climate Change builds on Mayor’s Garcetti proposed LA City Green New Deal with actionable solutions in the Building and Urban Scales, supported by LA-grown NASA’s JPL findings.
Surface Design Show 2020 | Feb 11-13 | London, GB
