Already thinking about weekend plans? If you're in the New York metro area, The Guggenheim will be hosting the free "Competing Intelligence" Digital Architecture masterclass this Saturday, March 7 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. All architecture students and recent graduates (within the last 5 years) are invited to join!
The experiment pairs human and artificial intelligence to evaluate design, as a way to test the limits of A.I. in architecture. For this workshop, the Stage One entries of the wildly popular Guggenheim Helsinki Design Competition will be used as the data set.
More details below.
The one-day workshop will be led by Hugo Liu, principal scientist at eBay and a Ph.D. holder from the MIT Media Lab, and Troy Conrad Therrien, who is the curator of the Architecture and Digital Initiatives.
Results will be showcased in the forthcoming Guggenheim Helsinki Now exhibition at the Kunsthalle Helsinki and will also be used in the development of a digital app. All participants will be credited for their contributions. Attendance is free, but registration is required.
