Bracket [On Sharing] accepting submissions now until February 4!

By Justine Testado|

Wednesday, Jan 10, 2018

The new submission page for BRACKET issue #5 [On Sharing] is now live! Founded by Archinect and InfraNet Lab, BRACKET is a collaborative annual publication that documents issues that are overlooked yet central to our cultural milieu that have evolved from the intersection of architecture, environment, and digital culture.

We want to remind our readers that submissions for BRACKET 5 are due February 4, 2018, Midnight EST.

From the brief, BRACKET [On Sharing] asks:

Can the challenges of sharing be designed for? How have recent design projects found innovative ways to share space, time, or resources? What types of spaces and conditions can foster contemporary models of sharing? Can architecture serve as a mediator for more effective sharing? What are the appropriate scales to share? How can sharing engage issues of equity and politics? Bracket 5 suggests that sharing needs to be re-learned today. We ask how can the design of our environments encourage new approaches to sharing that question our social, economic, and governmental practices.

The fifth volume of Bracket invites design work and papers that offer contemporary models as well as historic readings of the roles, mechanisms, and outcomes of sharing. Positional papers should be projective and speculative or revelatory, if historical. Suggested subthemes include:

Sharing Objects
Sharing Services
Sharing Histories
Sharing Resources
Sharing Time
Sharing Labor
Sharing Space
Sharing Technologies
Sharing Power

The Editorial Board and Jury for Bracket 5 includes Andrés Jaque, Mitch McEwen, Markus Miessen, Ana Miljacki, Anna Puigjaner, Jeremy Till as well as co-editors Neeraj Bhatia and Maya Przybylski.

Send your submissions for Bracket [On Sharing] here. Please visit www.brkt.org for further information and schedule.
