Since 2000, the Howard E. LeFevre ’29 Emerging Practitioner Fellowship has provided architects, designers, researchers, and artists with the opportunities to investigate a specific topic/focus and develop a research project to teach during a nine-month residency at the Knowlton School at The Ohio State University.

According to the school, the LeFevre Fellowship has "supported architects and designers with a range of research interests, including history, theory, contemporary culture, media, technology, material assembly, and advanced digital techniques. We seek candidates to continue the tradition of supporting innovative research centered on topics relevant to the continued evolution of disciplinary practice." The 2023–2024 LeFevre Fellow is awarded to designer, writer, and educator Samiha Meem.

Much of Meem's research focuses on "'autospace:'" simulacra of so-called original material conditions formed through a combination of explicitly personal metanarratives, the confined spectacle of images, and the contemporary social economy of (over)sharing." She received an M.Arch from McGill University and a B.Arch from the University of Waterloo. She's previously taught at McGill in addition to working for architecture firms in New York, Toronto, and Montréal. Meem also leads her own collaborative visual studio titled Meem Land, where she works with artists, architects, and institutions.

During her time as the LeFevre Fellow, she will be focusing on a research-based project that addresses "cultural reality production through the exploitation of falseness under model collapses in intelligence infrastructures."
