New architecture and design competitions: Human/AI Design Challenge, Reinterpreting the Space, Kokuyo Design Award, and AR Future Projects Awards

For this week's curated picks of architecture and design competitions listed on Bustler, we are highlighting four exciting briefs calling for a graphic design project assisted by AI, conceptual ideas for the revitalization of Ukraine's Potocki Palace through the creation of a public space, "primitive" product designs, and excellent unbuilt and incomplete projects that have the potential to create positive change.

Human/AI Design Challenge
Registration/Submission Deadline: Wednesday, September 27, 2023

"In this context, we propose to engage design students worldwide in a reflection on how to balance the best relationship between human creative thinking and artificial intelligence, by carrying out a graphic design project assisted by AI content generation algorithms. The Human/AI Design Challenge consists of creating a graphic design project that will result in a 70x100 cm poster on the theme 'Design for Human Future.'  The finalist posters and the winner will be presented in an exhibition during the Barcelona Design Week."

2023 Іnternational Architecture Competition: Reinterpreting the Space
Registration Deadline: Saturday, September 30, 2023
Submission Deadline: Tuesday, January 30, 2024

"With the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, we feel the urgent need to preserve the identity of our heritage and to popularize it in the world. Architecture competition Reinterpreting the Space is looking for the conceptual ideas for revitalization the historical space of the Potocki Palace complex in Ivano-Frankivsk (Ukraine) with the creation of a public cultural space."

KOKUYO DESIGN AWARD 2024
Registration/Submission Deadline: Wednesday, October 11, 2023

"KOKUYO DESIGN AWARD 2024, with its theme 'primitive,' is looking for product designs that will remain as the essentials in the future by going back to fundamental quality of our familiar tools used in working, learning, and living. The key points for judging the entries are whether they 'The idea’s clarity,' 'The idea highlights social issues,' and 'The design’s potential to become a product."

AR Future Projects awards 2024
Registration/Submission Deadline: Friday, November 24, 2023

"Launched in 2002, the AR Future Projects awards are a window into tomorrow’s cities. Spanning 12 categories, they celebrate excellence in unbuilt and incomplete projects, and the potential for positive contribution to communities, neighbourhoods and urban landscapes around the world."
