London Design Festival begins this week with a huge programme of events across 11 distinct Design Districts throughout the city. Each offers their own atmosphere and collection of open studios, talks, interventions, and workshops. This week also holds openings of exhibitions, workshops and talks to keep children and grownups alike entertained.

This year the London Design Festival returns bigger than ever, with a programme delivered by the country's greatest thinkers, educators, practitioners, and retailers. With such a huge range of events and attractions, the question lies in which to take part in over this short period of time. Each district has a theme, and its own offering of talks, walks, workshops, and installations.

The series of consultations, workshops, and kids activities (running at the same time, Creative family workshops: design your home!) are free, with voluntary donations going to Article 25.

Beazley Designs of the Year 2018 | Opens 12 September
Opening this week at the Design Museum for the eleventh time is Beazley Designs of the Year. This annual celebration of innovative and thought-provoking designs over the past 12 months. Expect reactions to current affairs manifested into gadgets and graphic design, as well as problem solving through product.

Waugh Thistleton Architects: MultiPly | 15-23 September
The Sackler Courtyard at the V&A will be occupied during the London Design Festival by a plywood creation from Waugh Thistleton Architects. This modular structure will highlight the wider need for housing and the issues surrounding climate change, whilst showcasing the possibilities of working with cross-laminated timber.

Fresh Perspectives | Until 29 September
Student work from across the country will be shown at RIBA as a response to the theme of their current exhibition, 'Disappear Here'. The display of this graduate work is part of the RIBA's continuing focus on the next generation of practitioners. A great chance to see the work of the architects of tomorrow.
