Morpholio held another successful EyeTime photography competition! The popular contest for designers was established by photographers, professors and students to highlight the ongoing research and investigation brewing within today's emerging design talent.
The guest jury — which included Bustler and Archinect founder Paul Petrunia — chose the winning photos from the Emerging Talent (young professionals/enthusiasts) and Future Voices (students) categories. Additionally, the public got to participate in selecting the winners in the "EyeTime" contest, which allows people to "vote" for their favorite finalists via EyeTime's Morpholio app.
Two photos received the Jessica Lum Award, which commemorates the work and spirit of photographer, reporter, editor and humanitarian Jessica Lum. Four Special Recognitions were announced this time around as well.
Check out the winning photos and some jury comments below.
EMERGING TALENT
"This year's finalists display an impressive level of cultural sensitivity and social awareness. At a time when hardware and software technology can make almost anyone look like a skilled photographer, these photographs prove that human perspective plays the most important role in telling a story through imagery." — Paul Petrunia, founder of Archinect and Bustler.
FUTURE VOICES
"Looking at some of the work presented in this competition gives me lots of hope and excitement for the future of photography. In a world where everyone is a photographer, this contest still goes to show that it's the creative vision that matters the most at the end of the day." — Chris Gampat, Editor-in-Chief of The Phoblographer
"Seeing the work that these young and up-and-coming photographers are submitting is inspirational to me and a reminder of how many stories are out there to be told." — Pei Ketron, photographer.
"I hope the winners of the Jessica Lum award are continually inspired to share their own voice with the world through telling the stories of others. It is possible to send your message through today's virtual noise. Make it a message worth sending." — Salgu Wissmath, Photojournalist, Co-founder of Project I AM.
