With the help of young UK architects, London housing association Peabody is already looking to the future of social housing with their "Small Projects Panel" competition launched this past November.
The judging panel received over 300 submissions from recent graduates to more established practices last month. To keep the competition's focus on design, entrants were not required to propose fees or declare a turnover period -- only a completed project and a design for one of three selected London sites.
Peabody recently announced the 20 shortlisted proposals that have advanced to the last stage. Each team will be interviewed before the jury picks 6-8 firms by the end of January. The winning firms will help Peabody develop new housing schemes that have a maximum of 20 homes.
