New architecture and design competitions: World Monuments Fund/Knoll Modernism Prize, Creative Discovery Challenge, Brick in Architecture Awards, and FORM Student Innovation Competition

Call for Submissions: 2024 World Monuments Fund/Knoll Modernism Prize
Registration/Submission Deadline: Friday, September 22, 2023

"Nominations are open for the 2024 World Monuments Fund/Knoll Modernism Prize! The prize raises awareness about modern preservation success stories, recognizing outstanding and innovative projects completed in the past 10 years that helped protect a threatened modern building." 

Creative Discovery Challenge
Registration/Submission Deadline: Monday, October 2, 2023

"We are excited to announce the opening of a new award hosted by NISSAN and Loftwork. The Creative Discovery Challenge is looking to award future-thinking, innovative ideas and designs that have the potential to improve people’s lives. Submissions will be accepted between July 19, 2023, and October 2, 2023, and are asked to follow the theme of 'bricolage,' where people use everyday objects to create something new. Using bricolage, this award wants applicants to leverage their own unique perspective to propose a new way to enhance everyday life."

2023 Brick in Architecture Awards
Registration/Submission Deadline: Friday, November 3, 2023

"Per the competition rules, eligible projects include any work of architecture completed since January 1, 2018, in which new clay brick products comprise the predominant exterior building or paving material (over 50 percent) including face or hollow brick, building brick, thin brick, paving brick, glazed brick, structural glazed facing tile, new clay brick products in special shapes and/or a combination of these."

FORM Student Innovation Competition
Registration/Submission Deadline: Friday, March 8, 2024

"This year, Formica reflects on 110 years of Formica with a challenge that asks students to submit a color rendering and project statement of a furniture design that interprets 'newstalgia' — a trending aesthetic that blends retro and vintage design with a fresh, modern take. Through their design, students are asked to use their creativity when defining what 'newstalgia' means to them, bridging classic with new."
